NYU Classes

Overall, this class helped me grow from viewing marketing as primarily creative expression to understanding it as a strategic, analytical, and valuesdriven practice.

Robyn L. Stein teaches Integrated Marketing for Non-Profits as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Public Service at the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. She has taught this course for nearly 10 years and teaches during both the fall and summer semesters.

(Quotes from students in Performing Arts Management and Visual Arts Management programs.)

Students matriculate from NYU Wagner as well as several master’s programs at Steinhardt – where they earn MA’s from both the Performing Arts Management and Visual Arts Management programs. In class, rich comparative discussions are held with this diverse group of students who focus on their personal experience, as well as self-selected organizations including those such as Carnegie Hall, the Joyce Theater and DIA – to World Central Kitchen, God’s Love We Deliver, and Doctors Without Borders.

Professor Stein
really built a strong sense of comradery and shared learning among the class.

Concepts like brand personality, issues framing, and storytelling are discussed with an equity based lens, as are digital tools and social media, and cause-related marketing. Everyone creates a SMART Marketing Strategy for an organization of their choice.

Special guests throughout the semester enrich class discussions.

Other student evaluation remarks are below:

Professor Robyn is genuinely one of the most interesting professors I’ve ever had. Her ability to challenge ideas, ask the right questions, and connect theory to
real-world examples made the material feel relevant and engaging.
This course not only taught me valuable marketing concepts and tools but also showed me how to apply them in real-world practice.
I learned to slow down, ask equity questions, and design campaigns that are not only creative but also accountable to the people they represent.Listening to marketing professionals talk about their organizations and explain their content and processes to us was immensely informative.
